An Apostille is the certificate issued by the Competent Authority of the state of origin..the Apostille only certifies the authenticity or origin of the signature of the official that signed the document ...the Apostille does not certify the content of the document for which it was issued.

What Is The Hague Convention?
The Hague Convention
Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents (commonly known as the Apostille Convention), was adopted on October 5, 1961 . The convention entered into force on January 24, 1965
It is a multilateral treaty. Negotiated and adopted by participating countries that wanted to create a uniform and more streamlined process for authenticating public documents, to be used abroad by introducing the apostille certificate.
Establishes a framework of rules and procedures for the recognition and enforcement of legal documents across borders. Allows member countries to designate competent authorities responsible for issuing apostilles and performing related functions. Provides a standardized format for apostille certificates, simplifying the authentication process for documents destined for use in other member countries.
